Entertaiment
Something affording pleasure, diversion, or amusement, as a theatrical performance or other social event. Also, an agreeable occupation for the mind; a pastime: solving a crossword puzzle is an entertainment for many. Also used figuratively to refer to hospitable provision for the needs or wants of guests or other persons. The word is often abbreviated entmt. on fliers or in industry news publications where space is at a premium.
Often entertainments have a serious purpose, such as a religious festival or a political ceremony. The classic story of Scheherazade, in the Persian professional storytelling tradition, is an example: the tale inspired a musical composition by Rimsky-Korsakov; a film by Pasolini and a video game by Rovio.
