Article: Entertaiment
Something affording pleasure, diversion or amusement; a performance: From the clown at your kid’s birthday party to a Broadway show to a stadium rock concert to your friends fighting over the last potato chip, entertainment takes many forms. It can be a sedentary activity, like solving the daily crossword puzzle or watching TV; or an active, participatory experience, such as sports and music. It was originally a hospitable provision for guests and may still have this sense, but it has come to be used more generally for any pleasurable distraction or diversion. It is often abbreviated entmt on fliers and in industry news publications when space is limited.
